Suckerpunch!

Lydia started boxing after putting one too many holes and dents in things she actually had to pay for. She got pretty serious about it too, watching old fights, studying Khoren, picking up little habits from different boxers and trying to piece together some perfect way to fight.

Her first real match ruined most of that. By the 3rd round she was exhausted, pissed off and barely doing anything she practiced. Her stance got ugly, punches started coming from wherever they could.
Her opponent was twitching on the canvas a few seconds later, which everyone took as a pretty convincing sign that Lydia had won.

Later Lydia watched the 3rd round back over and over, rewinding the parts where she started fighting differently, pausing on little movements she didn’t remember making and trying to figure out when exactly things started working. After a while she leaned closer to the screen.

“...I thought I was taller.”
